Menorcan Horse Demo & Clinic

Meet the Only Menorcan Horse in the US

Kelly Sigler will be holding a working equitation clinic at her Looking Glass Farm in Wagener on November 20, with Alison Head as the judge. Working equitation includes various dressage maneuvers that were developed to help ranchers with their work and, unlike traditional dressage, includes various obstacles and other challenges. Kelly will be on hand to coach and help riders present their horses to the best of their abilities.

Following the clinic, Maite Bonet, who is the principle rider at the Son Martorellet Stud on the island of Menorca, will give a demonstration of Menorcan dressage, riding Zar, the only Menorcan horse in the United States. The working equitation clinic starts at 8:30 am and will be followed by a Menorcan barbecue and paella lunch. The Menorcan horse demonstration will be at 2:00 pm. The clinic costs $85; the lunch is $20. The Menorcan horse demonstration is free.

Kelly and Maite have teamed up to start importing rare Menorcan horses to the United States, believing them to be the ideal horse for people who want a horse with the dressage movement of a warmblood along with the temperament and versatility of a trail horse. We had an article about the Menorcan Horse in our October-November 2021 issue. You can read an online version of that article here.
